This week, prizes have been awarded to the winners of the Latvian Television and Latvian Radio Kilogram of Culture awards, which is held every year with the support of Rietumu.

During the voting, which took place in several stages, winners in nine categories were determined. The winners of the awards received cash prizes in the amount of EUR 1000 from Rietumu Bank’s Charity Fund.

According to the results of this awards, the main event of the year was the historical film “Dvēseļu putenis” (Blizzard of Souls). The authors of the best works in the fields of music, literature, theatre, and visual art, and in a number of other categories, were also awarded.

The Kilogram of Culture awards has been held annually since 2012; it is traditionally supported by Rietumu.

“Undoubtedly, this is one of the most significant events in the field of culture. It not only reveals the most interesting works in various fields of art, but also helps us all to better navigate the cultural life of the country, learning about and getting acquainted with new authors, new works. It is very important that all of us residents of Latvia get the opportunity not only to be outside observers, watching and listening, but also to actively participate in the cultural process”, says Inga Shina, Chairperson of the Board of Rietumu Bank’s Charity Fund.

In most categories, candidates are nominated by a competent jury which includes representatives of Latvian Television, Latvian Radio and the LSM.lv public media portal. In turn, the winners among the nominees are determined by a popular vote, in which everyone can participate.
